Privacy
The short version: you can use dy over dx without an account, and today your lesson work stays in your browser.
Lesson progress
When you answer questions in Explore, your answers, results, and revealed lesson sections are stored on your device. They are not sent to us. This lets you close the page and continue later in the same browser.
Explore progress is kept for up to one year. If a lesson’s questions change, older saved progress for that lesson is discarded automatically.
Other browser settings
Your light or dark theme choice is stored in your browser so the site can remember it. The Lessons page also remembers which curriculum part you selected for the rest of that browser session.
Accounts
Accounts are not available or required today. Optional accounts may eventually be added for people who want to carry their progress between browsers or devices. Using the lessons without an account should remain an option.
No account information is being collected now. Before optional accounts are introduced, their security and privacy will be reviewed carefully and this page will be updated to explain exactly what is stored and how it is used.
What the site does not use today
- No advertising or tracking cookies.
- No analytics that follow you around the site.
- No selling or sharing of lesson answers.
Removing saved information
Choose Reset all from the gear menu in Explore to remove the saved answers and progress for that lesson. You can remove everything saved by dy over dx through your browser’s controls for clearing site data.
Services used to display the site
The site loads some resources from other services, including fonts from Google, mathematical typesetting from jsDelivr, and Desmos on pages with a graphing calculator. As with any web request, those services may receive basic connection information such as your IP address and browser type. Their own privacy practices apply to those requests.
The web host may also keep ordinary server logs needed to deliver and protect the site. These are not connected to your locally saved lesson answers.
If this changes
If dy over dx later adds optional accounts, classroom reporting, analytics, or any other collection of student information, this page will be updated before that feature is introduced.
